Russian Foreign Ministry Questions Western Claims of UAV Deliveries from Iran

11 October 2023

The West should cease its unfounded speculations regarding alleged drone deliveries from Iran to Russia; the so-called "evidence" provided by the United States and Europe lacks credibility, stated Konstantin Vorontsov, the Deputy Director of the Department for Non-Proliferation and Arms Control at the Russian Foreign Ministry.

"It is crucial that our American and European counterparts stop their unwarranted speculations concerning alleged Iranian drone deliveries to Russia and other destinations while purportedly circumventing the procedures laid out in UN Security Council Resolution 2231. To date, no compelling material evidence has been presented to confirm these claims. The photographic images of specific equipment and debris compiled by the United States, the United Kingdom, and their Ukrainian counterparts do not exhibit clear indications of a connection with Iran and, thus, cannot serve as confirmation of the alleged Iranian supplies," he asserted during a session of the UN General Assembly's First Committee on Disarmament.

Vorontsov underscored that these "informational products" lack credibility. "It is unfeasible to determine the source and veracity of the Western purported evidence, as well as whether it was actually collected in Ukraine or in other regions where the US and the UK conducted their investigative activities," the diplomat concluded.
