Russian Foreign Ministry states significant progress on US return to Iran nuclear deal

The Russian Foreign Ministry states significant progress in the talks in Vienna on the return of the US to implement the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program (JCPOA).


"Significant progress has been acknowledged by the participants of the joint commission in resolving the problematic points concerning the return of the United States to fulfilling its obligations under the JCPOA in the interests of the functioning of the nuclear deal in its original parameters. A strong desire to contribute to the speedy achievement of the final agreements was confirmed," the diplomatic office said in a statement released on Wednesday.


The Foreign Ministry stressed that the joint commission in Vienna will meet again the week of May 24, and work at the expert level will continue without interruption.


On May 19, a meeting of the Joint commission of the JCPOA was held in Vienna, during which the results of the fourth round of negotiations to restore full implementation of the Iranian nuclear deal were summarized.
