Instructors of the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan started two-month training of 500 servicemen of the republic's armed forces. This was reported by the press service of the Central Military District (CMD) on Monday.
"A two-month training of foreign specialists by Russian servicemen in 14 military professions will take place from June 6 to August 7 at Russian training ranges in Lyaur and Sambuli," the report said, specifying that instructors began training 500 people.
It is planned to train motor vehicle drivers and gunners-operators of T-72 tanks and BMP-2 armored infantry fighting vehicles by August. In addition, the commanders of Grads, gunners and drivers of BTR-80 armored vehicles and other specialists will be trained. At the end of the training, servicemen will pass norms on training subjects and test firing from standard armament of combat vehicles, small arms and grenade launchers.
Russian instructors have been training specialists for Tajikistan Armed Forces since 2015. During this time more than 6,000 servicemen have already been trained.
The 201st Military Base stationed in Tajikistan is Russia's largest military facility outside its borders. It is located in two cities - Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance, air defense, air defense and communications units.
