Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday during a telephone conversation with Jordan's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Hussein  al-Safadi discussed the settlement of conflicts in the region. The Russian foreign ministry said in a statement.

"The mutual interest in continuing to coordinate approaches to resolving conflict situations and crises that have a negative impact on regional and international stability and security was stressed," the ministry pointed out.

The ministry also added that Ayman al-Safadi spoke about the results of the May 1 meeting with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Egypt, Iraq and Syria. "Lavrov welcomed the readiness expressed at the meeting to take a leading role in facilitating a Syrian settlement, including the resolution of humanitarian problems, the reconstruction of infrastructure, the return of refugees, the fight against terrorism and drug trafficking, and the continuation of the inter-Syrian political process. It is principally important to confirm the necessity of restoration of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Syria," underlined the diplomatic mission.

The foreign ministers also discussed further strengthening of Russian-Jordanian bilateral cooperation.
