30 April 2020

There can be no extension of the UN arms embargo against Iran; it expires in October 2020, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Russia Sergey Ryabkov told RIA Novosti.

“With regard to the extension of the current special regime for the supply of arms and military equipment to the Islamic Republic of Iran, as well as the supply of weapons from Iran,  for us, the issue was resolved while adoption of Security Council Resolution 2231. This special regime, after a five-year period, will expire in October 2020, there can be no deviations from this decision,” the official said.

Yesterday, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that Washington would do everything to extend the embargo on arms supplies to Iran.
