Russian MFA assessed the situation around the Iranian nuclear program

It seems that Washington does not know what else to do to disrupt the JCPOA (Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action on the Iranian nuclear program-ed.), said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova, commenting on the cancellation of US sanctions exceptions for Iran.

Earlier, US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said that the US is ending all exceptions to sanctions for the Iranian peaceful atom, not counting the 1st power unit of the Bushehr NPP. This is one of the latest relief measures imposed against Iran in compliance with the nuclear deal of 2015. Washington has given two months to complete work on Iran's peaceful nuclear program, which will later be subject to sanctions.

"We, of course, condemn this step. The international community has long been urging Washington to return to fulfilling its obligations under these documents. But at the same time, we record the persistent hostility of the American political establishment to Iran. It outweighs the legal responsibility to our partners, the concern for our own reputation in the world as a treaty-making state, and the need to strengthen the authority of the UN Security Council. It seems that Washington simply does not know what else to do to disrupt the implementation of the JCPOA and the aforementioned UN Security Council resolution, " she said at a briefing on Thursday.
