Press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry published a comment on the extension of the Mandate of United Nations Disengagement Observer Force.
The UN Disengagement Observer Force (UNDOF) on the Golan tasked to maintain a cease-fire between Israel and Syria since 1974 was extended on June 26.
The Ministry said, "it is extremely important UNDOF to continue to play a stabilizing role and to comply fully with its mandate in the complex situation of the Middle East and in the conditions of the continued presence of anti-Damascus militants funded by external sponsors of the Syrian opposition."
The Russian Foreign Ministry also recalled that the Russian military has made a significant contribution to the resumption of the UNDOF full functioning, which was complicated in the conditions of the Syrian domestic conflict.
