Russian MFA comments on Israeli strikes on Syria

Russian Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Maria Zakharova has answered the question of how Moscow reacts to the recent Israeli airstrikes on Syria, the largest attack in the last few years.

 

 

 

On Monday morning, six Israeli fighter jets operating inside Lebanese airspace conducted airstrikes targeted at the cities outside of Damascus and Homs. Syrian air defenses managed to down several missiles fired. Some attacks, Zakharova explained, were near residential areas. Israeli air strikes killed at least 16 people including one infant, many people were injured.

 

 

 

"Israeli airstrikes on Syria is the largest attack since May 2018. We are concerned about this alarming development of the situation.  Its escalation is our extreme concern", -  the Russian official stated.

 

 

 

According to her, the use of force, blatantly violating Syria’s sovereignty, not only prevents the normalization of the situation in this country but also threaten to regional destabilization, in which none of the Middle Eastern states can see their national security interests reliably ensured.
