The Russian foreign ministry has issued a strong condemnation of the terrorist attack that occurred in Afghanistan on March 21, resulting in the tragic loss of innocent lives, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said in a statement.
"We strongly condemn the barbaric terrorist attack perpetrated on March 21 by an extremist suicide bomber at the entrance of a bank in Kandahar. This heinous act, which claimed the lives of numerous innocent individuals, is particularly egregious as it occurred during the holy month of Ramadan. It was clearly aimed at destabilizing the situation in Afghanistan's spiritual capital," stated the diplomat.
Zakharova emphasized Russia's heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims and wished a swift recovery to those injured in the attack.
"We hope that the Afghan authorities will be able to identify and bring to justice the perpetrators of this terrorist attack in Kandahar," concluded the Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman.
On March 21, an explosion rocked a branch of New Kabul Bank in the city of Kandahar, located in southern Afghanistan.
