The Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a comment in connection with the US attempts to disrupt the Damascus international fair, which opens in the Syrian capital on August 28.
As noted in the comment, the importance of such an international event "for the country on the path of stabilization and restoration of the economy destroyed as a result of the attack of international terrorism", it is difficult to overestimate.
"Such a prospect does not please those who have been actively supporting the forces opposed to the legitimate government of the Syrian Arab Republic. After the failure of previous years attempts to solve the problem of overthrowing the "regime of Bashar al-Assad" by military means, by the hands of bandits and terrorists, the methods of financial and economic strangulation of the country are brought to the force. Moreover, the US Administration allows direct threats against those who would like to develop cooperation with Syria in the trade and economic sphere, or even just examine such prospects", - the message reads.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, despite the fact that the US diplomatic mission was discontinued in 2011, its website since August 22 posts calls not to visit the Damascus fair under the threat of sanctions from the US Treasury.
"We consider the ongoing blatant the US blocking of efforts of the Syrian leadership for the post-crisis reconstruction of the country as detrimental to the unity, sovereignty and territorial integrity of the SAR, and directly contrary to the letter and spirit of decisions of the international community on Syria", - Russian MFA says.
