Russian MFA discussed the return of Russian children from Syria

The Russian Foreign Ministry held a regular meeting of the taskforce chaired by  Special Presidential Representative for the Middle East and Africa, Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov and Presidential Commissioner for Children's Rights Anna Kuznetsova.

 

 


According to the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry, the parties discussed the results of Kuznetsova's trip to Syria at the head of the interdepartmental delegation on September 3-7, during which Russian side held talks with Syrian President Bashar al-Assad and other members of the leadership of the Arab Republic on the return of Russian minors to their homeland.

 

 


At that time, with the active participation of the Russian Embassy in Damascus and relevant Russian agencies, the first group of children (4 people) who were in local prisons with their mothers accused of illegal entry into the country or aiding terrorism was sent to Russia by the plane of Russian Defense Ministry.

 

 


"Following the meeting, further steps are planned to be taken to finally solve the problem of repatriation of Russian children from Syria", the Russian Foreign Ministry said.
