The Afghan drug threat is one of the main challenges to Russia's national security, Deputy Director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats Alexey Rogov said in an interview for TASS.
This, as he said, is due to the fact that drugs affect the younger generation, "ruin the lives of hundreds, thousands of people," but this is not their only danger.
"Drugs kill the younger generation and nourish terrorism. For this reason, they pose a threat to both Russia and our allies in Central Asia," Rogov said. - "We need resolute actions to prevent this threat from spreading far and wide," said, in particular, the diplomat.
Now, according to Rogov, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization is in the process of creating an anti-drug potential on the basis of the strategy adopted at the SCO summit in 2018.
Within the CSTO there are effective anti-drug operations as well.
