Russia called on the Israeli authorities to reconsider the decision to demolish Palestinian homes and to refrain from such destructive steps in the future, says the statement of the Russian Foreign Ministry, published in response to the demolition of Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem.
"According to reports, more than a dozen apartment buildings have been destroyed, and several evicted Palestinian families have been left with no roof over their heads. We believe that such actions of Israel in the occupied Palestinian territories are illegal in terms of international law and undermine the prospects for a two-state settlement of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. We call on Israel to reconsider this decision, as well as to refrain from such destructive steps in the future," is stressed in the statement.
