Russian MFA: Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan are ready to work with Russia to create a gas union

Astana and Tashkent are ready for joint actions with Moscow to create a gas union, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin told TASS.


"The idea of creating a "triple gas union" is of interest both for Russia and for our partners - Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Interaction in this sphere is clearly in demand due to the existing energy needs, the tasks of ensuring socio-economic stability and the well-being of the population," he said. - "Russia's partners are ready for joint actions in this area."


The deputy minister noted that there are "no significant obstacles" for the implementation of the idea, but there will be a need for a large systemic work, especially at the expert level, "which is already underway in the competent ministries of the three countries."


"As for the participation of the Republic of Uzbekistan in the project, President [of Russia Vladimir] Putin noted during a press conference on December 9 at the end of the EEU summit in Bishkek that work on the creation of a possible energy alliance has already begun," Galuzin concluded.
