The Russian foreign ministry stressed that Russia is one of the leading foreign trade partners of Azerbaijan. "Trade turnover between our countries has demonstrated resistance to pandemic challenges and continued to grow in 2021. The Action Plan on development of key areas of Russian-Azerbaijani cooperation until 2024, which includes six "road maps" on trade, transport infrastructure, high-tech industries, economic efficiency and tourism, cooperation in the field of innovative development and digital technologies, is actively implemented," the ministry added.

The diplomatic mission also noted that the positions of Moscow and Baku in international affairs are close or largely the same. "We cooperate closely within the CIS, interact in the context of integration processes in the Eurasian space. At international forums, including the UN and the OSCE, our countries traditionally support each other and demonstrate a strong rejection of any manifestations of racism, xenophobia, neo-Nazism, discrimination on ethnic, linguistic or religious grounds," the Russian foreign ministry continued. - "Russia and Azerbaijan also show solidarity in opposing attempts to glorify Nazism and a revision of the results of World War II and falsification of history."

In this case, the parties pay special attention to regional security in the South Caucasus. "Commitment to the observance of the trilateral high-level agreements of November 9, 2020, January 11 and November 26, 2021 remains an unconditional factor designed to ensure long-term peace, stability and prosperity in this region," Smolensk Square pointed out.

"It is very symbolic that Russia and Azerbaijan are celebrating the 30th anniversary of diplomatic relations in a new capacity. On February 22 this year in Moscow, Presidents Putin and Aliyev signed a declaration on allied cooperation between the Russian Federation and the Republic of Azerbaijan. The provisions of this document are focused on the future. The new allied relations will continue, as before, to develop steadily on the basis of strong traditions of good-neighborliness, equality and consideration of each other's interests. This fully meets the long-term interests of the peoples of Russia and Azerbaijan," the Russian foreign ministry concluded.
