Russia and Syria, working together, aim to build a better future not only for their peoples but also for the entire Middle East, stated Oleg Ozerov, Ambassador-at-Large of the Russian Foreign Ministry. He made these remarks during a round table at the Diplomatic Academy of the Russian Foreign Ministry, celebrating the 80th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Syria.
"I am confident that, acting side by side, we will certainly build a better future not only for our peoples, but also for the entire Middle East," Ozerov said.
He also paid tribute to the heroes who defended Syria's sovereignty and independence. "Today we pay tribute to all those heroes who died defending the sovereignty and independence of the Syrian Arab Republic. I am proud that the Soviet Union and later the Russian Federation stood side by side with the Syrian people in defense of the sovereignty, territorial integrity, and independence of the Syrian Arab Republic. Today, we are already seeing the fruits of our friendship," the diplomat noted.
