Russia hopes to develop friendly and full-fledged relations with Iraq and Iraqi Kurdistan, Russian Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Maria Zakharova announced during the briefing.
"We hope to develop friendly and full-fledged relations with Iraq and, of course, with Iraqi Kurdistan. We build these relations on a mutually respectful basis. Of course, we have traditional economic interests and interests in a number of other areas," the diplomat told reporters.
According to Zakharova, the successful establishment of state bodies, the approval of the relevant government institutions by the leadership will provide an opportunity to continue developing friendly relations between Russia and Iraqi Kurdistan for mutual benefit.
