Russian MFA: Russia stands for a comprehensive approach to resolving conflicts in the Middle East without applying double standards

The Information and Press Department of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs published a comment on the holding of the 74th UN General Assembly session in New York.

 

 


The message of the Russian MFA stressed that Russia "stands for a comprehensive approach to resolving conflicts in the Middle East and North Africa without applying double standards or external interference".

 

 


At the same time, the international community should provide "truly collective support". 

 

 


"We are interested in the Gulf states and their international partners reaching agreements on ways to ensure security in the region  on a truly inclusive basis. This is the aim of the Russian Concept of Collective Security and Stability in the Persian Gulf, based on a phased approach, multilateralism and strict observance of international law, primarily the UN Charter and Security Council resolutions", - the message reads.

 

 


The high-level week of the UN General Assembly opens today.

 

 


The event will be attended by 196 delegations, including 91 heads of state, 6 vice-presidents, 45 heads of government, 5 Deputy Prime Ministers and 44 Ministers. The Russian delegation is headed by Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov.
