Russian MFA says it intends to expand grain supplies to Africa after restrictions are lifted

Moscow intends to expand the supply of grain and fertilizers to African countries as soon as sanctions on exports from Russia are lifted. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin said this on the air of the Rossiya-24 TV channel on Friday.

"First, we need to get these barriers removed. Once they are removed, Malawi, I am sure, will be followed by many other African countries as recipients of free grain, fertilizers or supplies on favorable terms from Russia," the diplomat said.

According to Vershinin, the list of such countries has now been expanded and is being agreed upon between the African Union and the UN World Food Program. "I think we will see a lot of African countries there [on the list], our good friends, whom we undoubtedly want and will help after these barriers are removed by Western representatives," he concluded.
