10 February 2023

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov may visit two or three more African countries prior to the BRICS events, said Russian Presidential Special Representative for the Middle East and Africa and Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Bogdanov.

"The BRICS summit in the Republic of South Africa is now being prepared. I think our minister will visit two or three more African countries on his way to the meeting of foreign ministers," the deputy minister indicated Friday at a meeting of the organizing committee of the International parliamentary conference "Russia-Africa in a multipolar world."

The 15th BRICS summit will take place on August 22-24 in the city of Durban, South Africa. South Africa has announced a BRICS-Africa partnership to boost growth, sustainable development and inclusive multilateralism as the main theme of its 2023 presidency.
