Russian military arrived at the training ground in Tajikistan to participate in exercises

Units of the 201st Russian military base in Tajikistan have marched 300 km to the place of tactical exercises, the Kharb-Maydon training ground, the press service of the Central Military District (CMD) said in a statement on Friday.


"Motorized rifle, artillery, tank and other units made a march from the settlements of Dushanbe and Bokhtar, covering a total distance of more than 300 kilometers. During the march, the soldiers practiced the issues of combat protection of columns, overcoming conditionally contaminated areas, a reflection of attacks of sabotage and reconnaissance groups and strikes of "enemy" aircraft," the statement reads.


The press service added that the servicemen have already deployed control points, completed engineering equipment of firing positions and camouflaging of equipment.


Tactical exercises for the elimination of illegal armed groups will be held from March 14 to 18 at the Kharb-Maydon firing range. More than 1,000 Russian servicemen will take part in these exercises and it is planned to involve more than 300 weapons, military and special equipment with the involvement of army aviation helicopters.
