Russian military carried out training with Orlan-10 drones in the mountains of Tajikistan

Russian servicemen of the 201st military base conducted aerial reconnaissance of the conditional enemy targets in limited visibility conditions in the mountains of Tajikistan. The training involved Orlan-10 drones, the press service of the Central Military District (CMD) said Wednesday.


"During the training, specialists practiced the tasks of launching drones from a limited site, conducting aerial reconnaissance and detecting targets in conditions of limited visibility of mountain ranges and gorges. <...> Throughout the flight the control post received photo and video information in real time. A thermal imaging camera was used by the complex to detect the concealed movement of the enemy," the report says.

 

 

The press service specified that the servicemen were able to practice coordinated actions for controlling the flight program and interaction with artillery units for correcting fire. The training flights were carried out in the area of Lyaur firing range at an altitude of 800 to 5 thousand meters.


The 201st Military Base stationed in Tajikistan is the largest military facility of Russia outside its borders. It is located in two cities, Dushanbe and Bokhtar. It includes motorized rifle, tank, artillery, reconnaissance, air defense, air defense and communications units.
