The Russian military ensured the safe evacuation of 148 citizens of Turkey and Ukraine from the Kherson region. This was reported on Tuesday by the Russian Ministry of Defense.

" The day before, soldiers of the Southern Military District organized the safe delivery of 138 citizens of the Republic of Turkey and 10 citizens of Ukraine from the Kherson region of Ukraine to the territory of the Russian Federation," the report said.

According to the ministry, on the central square of the city, Russian military personnel carried out loading of all those who decided to leave the areas of the military operation by buses, as well as in convoys in personal vehicles. The military then ensured their safety as they moved into Russian territory.

"We went through all the cordons and checkpoints. Everything was quiet and calm. Thank you very much. Nobody stopped us. We flew like a bullet - it took us two and a half hours to get to Crimea - it was a surprise, honestly. Thank you for that!" said a citizen of Ukraine, who decided to use the opportunity to travel to Russia with her young son.

The evacuation was organized in response to requests from foreign embassies for assistance in removing their citizens from the territory of Ukraine. There were also requests from the local population submitted to the Russian military commandant's office in Kherson.

In total, Russian servicemen have evacuated about 600 foreign nationals to the territory of the Republic of Crimea from the Kherson region of Ukraine since the start of the special military operation.
