Russian Military Personnel Cast Early Votes in Presidential Election at Khmeimim Airbase

Members of the Russian Armed Forces (AF) have participated in early voting for the country's presidential election at the Khmeimim airbase in Syria, as reported by the Russian Defense Ministry.

 

"The command staff, servicemen, and civilian personnel of the Khmeimim airbase of the Russian grouping of troops (forces) of the  Russian AF in the Syrian Arab Republic took part in early voting in the Russian presidential election. The election process was organized in accordance with the federal law 'On the Election of the President of the Russian Federation,'" the department noted.

 

Earlier, crews of warships and auxiliary ships of the Black Sea and Pacific Fleets, as well as servicemen and civilian personnel, voted early at the naval base in the Syrian city of Tartus.

 

The Federation Council has scheduled the presidential elections for March 17, 2024. The Central Election Commission has decided that voting will span three days: March 15, 16, and 17. This marks the first three-day presidential election in the Russian Federation. Additionally, for the first time, remote online voting will be conducted in the presidential elections. Residents of 28 regions, in addition to Moscow, will be able to vote online.
