Military police officers of the Russian Armed Forces, together with the Turkish military, continue patrolling the border area in northern Syria in Aleppo province, Viktor Sosyura, a spokesperson for the military police, told reporters.

"The following tasks are being solved: holding the initiative of the presence of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation, stabilization of the political and economic situation in the region," he said.

The patrols are carried out with the support of Russian aviation. Convoys of military equipment are moving along key points in the province. During the patrols, Russian and Turkish militaries manage to discover secret underground caches of Islamist militants.

Earlier, the Aleppo province in the north of the country was the scene of fierce clashes between the Syrian government army and militants. The province was liberated from terrorist groups with the support of the Russian air force.
