This year, 25,000 Russian Muslims will be able to perform the Hajj to the shrines of Islam in Saudi Arabia. This was announced at a meeting of the Hajj Council, which was held in Ufa.
"The meeting of the Hajj Council was held in Ufa, where we distributed the quota by region. According to the agreement with Saudi Arabia, the quota for Russians this year is 25 thousand places", Rushan Abbyasov, First Deputy Chairman of the Russian Muftis Council told RIA Novosti.
The discussion also raised the issue of the spread of coronavirus.
The participants noted that the epidemic would not affect plans for the pilgrimage, and also expressed confidence that Saudi Arabia "would take the necessary measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus, understanding that pilgrims come from all over the world".
Now there are preparations for the Hajj: future pilgrims provide the necessary documents, book hotels, buy air tickets etc.
