Russian Muftis Council: Muslims support the authorities' measures in connection with the coronavirus

Russian Muslims fully support the recommendations of the authorities in connection with the spread of coronavirus, in particular, the call to stop visiting religious sites, the Deputy Head of the Russian Muftis Council (RMC) Rushan Abbyasov told  RIA Novosti.


"We took the necessary measures. Since March 18, we have closed our mosques in Moscow and in the Moscow region from collective and Friday prayers, and in other regions, everyone is now coming to this measure. And we, of course, support this call of the mayor and also call on our believers to support the "stay at home" campaign, not to attend major events with a large number of people", the religious figure said, in particular.


In Russia, according to the latest data, 840 cases of coronavirus infection were registered in 56 regions.
