27 January 2020

Mufti of Moscow Ildar Alyautdinov expressed his condolences to the relatives of the victims of the earthquake that happened on January 24 in Eastern Turkey.

"Just in one moment, we can lose everything that we have so diligently kept for a lifetime. Only our deeds, actions, and intentions will remain. All this is the reason to think about the value of time and those around us, the reason to look at life and the world with different eyes, in order to fill each new day with meaning", the religious figure said in an interview for RIA Novosti, wishing a speedy recovery to the victims.

According to Alyautdinov, earthquakes, floods, fires and other natural disasters are always a reminder of the fragility of the world and the transience of human life.

The 6.8-magnitude earthquake hit Turkey's southeastern province of Elazig last Friday. The disaster killed  39 people and injured more than 1,600, according to the latest data.
