Russian Muslims to help Syria build social infrastructure

Russian Muslims, through the Zakyat Foundation, are ready to help Syrian citizens build a school and temporary housing for refugees who have returned home, but it will take time to analyze and start work in this direction, Moscow Mufti Ildar Alyautdinov told RIA Novosti.

"It is our duty to give a helping hand. Talking to ministers and their deputies, we heard many words of gratitude to Russia, which at all levels provides support, respectively, the Russian Embassy confirmed that, despite all the help, there is a need not only for one-time actions but also to build social facilities that would benefit, perhaps a school for orphans or homes for families who return home, as temporary shelters until they build housing in their cities," said Alyautdinov.

According to the Mufti, during his visit to Damascus, areas in which support can be effectively provided to Syrian citizens were identified. "This is a long and complicated process, as it is necessary to register a fund for its activities in Syria and to identify a partner in Syria - this also requires some effort," he added.

Earlier, a delegation that arrived in Syria and Lebanon on the instructions of Ravil Gaynutdin, Chairman of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia, passed aid in the form of clothes and food baskets for families of Syrian refugees living in tent camps in the territory of the Lebanese republic.
