Representatives from Russia's national communities have successfully gathered more than 20 tons of humanitarian aid for Palestine. This initiative, conducted under the banner of "Peoples Together - Through the Years," marks the first time such a substantial amount of aid has been collected. Kazbek Farniev, advisor to the head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs (FADN) and chairman of the Volgograd-based organization "House of Friendship," shared details with TASS.
"We have collected humanitarian aid for Palestine. The cargo volume is equivalent to two lorries, nearly two planes - more than 20 tons. These include foodstuffs, personal hygiene products, medicines, cereals, and others," he said, adding that the collected cargo is currently in the preparation stage for shipment.
National communities from over 30 regions across Russia, spanning from the Far East to the North Caucasus, actively participated in the collection of this substantial humanitarian aid. The extensive outreach and collaboration reflect the widespread support for the "Peoples Together - Through the Years" initiative, which has garnered backing from prominent institutions such as the Ministry of Defense, the Ministry of Emergency Situations, Rossotrudnichestvo, and the federal "House of the Peoples of Russia."
The all-Russian initiative "Peoples Together - Through the Years" has been ongoing since spring 2022. Coordination of the aid collection within the framework of this initiative was entrusted to the Volgograd public organization "House of Friendship" by FADN. While the charity project initially commenced in Donbass, its geographical scope expanded over time. In 2023, the public organization extended its support not only to Donbass but also to regions including Syria, Afghanistan, and Armenia. During their visits to these regions, activists from the Friendship House engage in community support activities, including the traditional preparation and distribution of pilaf to residents.
