Over 100 Russian paratroopers will take part in the joint exercise "Defenders of Friendship - 2021" with Egypt. This was reported to journalists in the Russian ministry of defense.

"More than 100 servicemen of the air assault regiment of Caucasian Cossack of the Novorossiysk guards air assault mountain compound left the Russian Federation for the Arab Republic of Egypt to participate in the joint tactical exercise "Defenders of Friendship - 2021," noted in the military department.

Soldiers and equipment (six BMD-2 amphibious assault vehicles and two support unit vehicles) departed for Egypt by four Il-76MD aircraft of the Military transport aviation of the Russian Air Force. The exercise will also involve more than 400 troops of Egypt's reinforced paratrooper unit, as well as C-130 Hercules aircraft and heavy military transport Chinook helicopters of that country's Air Force.

"As part of the exercise, the personnel will practice interaction in preparing and conducting combat operations while blocking and destroying illegal armed formations in desert terrain," the defense ministry said.

At the preparatory stage, paratroopers from Russia and Egypt will conduct joint exercises on airborne training, within the framework of which they will practice elements of landing on simulators of the paratrooper complex. "When practicing one of the tactical episodes, a practical landing of about 10 units of military equipment and more than 150 servicemen from the two countries will be carried out," the ministry added.

The exercise "Defenders of Friendship - 2021" will be held for the fifth time and will end on October 29. Previously, paratroopers from Russia and Egypt have practiced joint actions in both Russian and Egyptian cities. In 2019, soldiers of special operations forces of the armed forces of Belarus took part in the exercise.
