Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh have assisted Azerbaijan in delivering more than 330 tons of humanitarian cargo to the Kelbajar region, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

"In order to restore power and water supply systems, social facilities and residential houses, the 16th Russian convoy of the humanitarian response center consisting of 15 military KamAZ vehicles and escort vehicles followed the Madagiz-Kelbajar route and ensured the delivery of over 330 tons of cargo to the Kelbajar region," the military department said in a statement.

It is noted that Russian peacekeepers assisted the Azerbaijani side in transporting food, construction materials and equipment.

In late September 2020, hostilities resumed in Nagorno-Karabakh, which became a continuation of the long-standing conflict and resulted in civilian casualties. The parties made several attempts to conclude a ceasefire, but a trilateral agreement reached on the night of November 10 was successful. With Russian mediation, Azerbaijan and Armenia agreed to a complete cease-fire and to an exchange of prisoners and bodies. Yerevan also gave Kelbajar, Lachin and Agdam districts to Baku. In addition, Russian peacekeepers were stationed in the region.
