Russian Permanent Mission to the UN: Ukraine dreams of dragging NATO into direct confrontation with Russia

16 November 2022

The Kiev authorities dream of dragging NATO into direct confrontation with Russia. This was stated by First Deputy Permanent Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN Dmitry Polyanskiy, commenting on the incident in Poland.

"The Kiev regime dreams of directly dragging NATO into the fight against Russia by any means, including outright provocations," he wrote on Twitter.

The Russian diplomat added that Kiev needs such provocations to "save Ukraine from imminent defeat."

Earlier, the Polish MFA made a claim that a Russian-made rocket fell in the village of Przewodow in the east of the country on Tuesday, killing two people. According to Polish President Andrzej Duda, the exact origin of the missile has not yet been established. For his part, US President Joe Biden said that there is preliminary information disputing claims that the rocket was fired from Russia. According to the American leader, "in terms of trajectory, it is unlikely that it was fired from Russia."

The Russian defense ministry said that there had been no strikes on targets near the Ukrainian-Polish border by Russian weapons. The ministry stressed that the pictures of the wreckage published by the Polish media from the scene of the incident had nothing to do with Russian weapons.
