Russia does not think a UN Security Council resolution on opening two additional aid posts on Syria's border with Turkey is necessary. Russia's First Deputy Permanent Representative to the world organization Dmitry Polyanskiy told reporters on Monday.
"This is not needed. It is a sovereign decision of Syria. There is a big difference between a cross-border assistance mechanism that violates Syria's territorial integrity and sovereignty and Syria's sovereign decision," Polyanskiy said.
Earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres said that Syrian President Bashar al-Assad had agreed to open two additional aid delivery points.
