Russian Post understands the importance of delivery from Asian countries for the retail sector and, in this regard, offers cargo transportation with transit through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. The company is also studying delivery routes from Vietnam, Bangladesh, India and Turkey, Georgy Alikoshvili, Deputy Director-General for Commercial Activities of Russian Post, told TASS on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum.
"For many retailers, it is important to deliver goods, raw materials and ingredients for their own production from Asian countries. In response to this need, we offer multimodal solutions, including transit through Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. We are also working on new routes for shipments from Vietnam, Bangladesh, India and Turkey," Alikoshvili said.
Alikoshvili noted that in some international directions the company uses transport solutions in combinations. For example, this can be sea and rail transport, air and road transport. "Now we are developing such routes not only for postal items, but also for cargo," he shared. - "Such combinations and variability of routes ensure stability of logistic chains and compliance with contractual delivery terms".
According to the deputy director of Russian Post, the special emphasis is now placed on the development of multimodal transport on the basis of the railway carriages. In this regard, in spring there was the launch of the Russia mail container train jointly with Russian Railways.
