Russian President Vladimir Putin sent a telegram to the Institute for African Studies (IAS) on its 60th anniversary.
The telegram notes that "African countries are confidently moving on the path of socio-economic development and play an increasingly important role in international affairs."
"Please accept my sincere congratulations on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the Institute for African Studies. Over the past decades, the Institute has firmly established itself among the world's leading centers of study of the African continent. African states are now socially and economically developing and play an increasingly important role in international affairs. Under these conditions, the importance of a comprehensive scientific study of the processes taking place there increases. I am convinced that the team of the Institute for African Studies will cope with the task with honor," says the telegram, which was read by Irina Abramova, Director of the IAS RAS.
