The main task of resolving the Syrian crisis is to stabilize the situation in the Arab Republic and launch a political process, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced following the talks with his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"Primary attention was certainly given to the situation in Syria. Russia and Turkey cooperate closely in the Astana format along with Iran. We believe this format is the most effective tool for overcoming the crisis in Syria. We think that at this point the most important task is to focus on finally stabilizing the situation on the ground and promoting a political settlement", - the Russian leader said.
The talks of the Russian and Turkish presidents were held on the sidelines of the MAKS 2019 air show.
