Russian President unveils monument to Yevgeny Primakov in Moscow

Today, a monument to the famous Soviet and Russian diplomat and Orientalist Yevgeny Primakov was unveiled in front of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Russian President Vladimir Putin took part in the ceremony. The president noted that Yevgeny Primakov is highly esteemed both by Russian and foreign colleagues.


The President called Primakov's work as Russian Foreign Minister a separate chapter.


"Orientalist, Arabist, he understood that the world is much more complex than patterns and stereotypes. He actively promoted the idea of multipolarity. He formed the key principles of the modern world development, " said, in particular, the Russian leader.


Primakov was one of the leading Russian Orientalists, a specialist in the field of the world economy and international relations. In different years, he headed the Foreign Ministry and the Russian government. Today, October 29, would have been his 90 birthday.
