Russia’s Prosecutor General Igor Krasnov has arrived in Tashkent for a working visit at the invitation of Uzbekistan’s Prosecutor General, Nigmatilla Yuldashev. The Russian Prosecutor General's Office confirmed the visit to TASS, highlighting its focus on strengthening bilateral cooperation.
“In Tashkent, the heads of the prosecution offices will discuss key issues of bilateral collaboration and exchange ideas to develop joint solutions for improving mechanisms to protect citizens' rights and combat crime,” the Russian Prosecutor’s Office stated.
Upon his arrival, Krasnov was greeted at the airport by Russian Ambassador to Uzbekistan Oleg Malginov and senior officials from Uzbekistan's Prosecutor General’s Office.
Prior to this visit, representatives from the Russian Prosecutor General's Office conducted a session at Uzbekistan's Law Enforcement Academy. They shared best practices in supervisory and anti-crime activities with local prosecutors and academic staff.
Collaboration between the prosecution offices of Russia and Uzbekistan began over a decade ago, starting in Tashkent during the 12th meeting of the Prosecutors General of SCO member states. The partnership was formalized with a cooperation agreement signed at that event. Since then, the two offices have regularly held bilateral and multilateral meetings.
In September 2021, during Krasnov’s visit to Tashkent, the two sides signed a cooperation program for 2021–2023. This was followed by the approval of a new document in April 2024 to further strengthen ties. In September of the same year, at the IX meeting of the Interstate Council for Combating Corruption, Krasnov, in talks with Akmal Burkhanov, head of Uzbekistan’s Anti-Corruption Agency, praised the high level of collaboration between Russian and Uzbek prosecutors.
