Russian Religious Leaders Express Hope for Trump's Peace efforts

07 November

The international community is looking to President-elect Donald Trump to help bring an end to the military conflict between Russia and Ukraine, and for religious leaders, “achieving peace is the most urgent issue.” This was stated by the head of the Religious Board of Muslims of Russia, Sheikh Ravil Gaynutdin, during the Global Summit of Religious Leaders in Baku titled “World Religions for a Green Planet,” as reported by TASS.

“As a presidential candidate, Donald Trump advocated for an end to military operations on the Russian-Ukrainian border. I believe the international community expects him to work in this direction. For us, as religious leaders, achieving peace is the most pressing issue, above all else,” Gaynutdin said in response to a request for comment on Trump's victory in the presidential elections.

The US election concluded on the morning of November 6th, Moscow time. According to Fox News, Trump secured 277 electoral votes, surpassing the required 270. He has already declared himself the 47th President of the United States. House Speaker Mike Johnson referred to him as the elected head of state.

Journalists were informed at the White House that President-elect Trump has been congratulated by Democratic vice-presidential candidate Kamala Harris, followed by US President Joe Biden.
