Russian Representative Affirms Unity Among CIS Nations in Commemorating Victory in Great Patriotic War

Andrei Grozov, Russia's permanent representative to the statutory and other bodies of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), emphasized the shared perspective on the Great Patriotic War among the peoples of CIS member countries. Speaking during a ceremony at the Friendship Alley in Minsk's museum and park complex "Pobeda" on May 9, Grozov underscored the collective memory and honor bestowed upon those who contributed to the victory over Nazism.

 

Grozov remarked, "The CIS states have always been unified in rejecting any attempts to distort history. During those challenging times, representatives of numerous peoples and nationalities of our homeland stood together to defend the right to life and a peaceful future for generations to come." He further expressed pride in the courageous victors and emphasized the duty to preserve their memory for future generations.

 

Leonid Anfimov, Deputy Secretary-General of the CIS, echoed these sentiments, highlighting the annual tradition of gathering in Minsk to honor the memory of the victors. He emphasized the collective nature of the victory, stating, "It was a common Victory of all fraternal peoples of the Soviet Union."

 

Anfimov emphasized that the memory of the Great Victory remains cherished across the former Soviet Union and the CIS. He concluded by affirming the enduring legacy of the Soviet people's unprecedented feat, which serves as the foundation of their victory.
