06 August 2021

Servicemen of special-purpose units of Russia and Uzbekistan during exercises on the Afghan border conducted a joint operation to liberate a settlement captured by conditional terrorists, the Central Military District reports.

"During practical actions at the Termez training range, the special forces practiced blockading a populated area, pursuing groups of conditional terrorists who had escaped from the blockaded area, destroying them and directing airstrikes. BTR-82A armored personnel carriers, Mi-35 attack helicopters and standard small arms were used as armored vehicles," the report says.

The joint exercises of Russia and Uzbekistan are taking place at the Termez training range against the background of destabilization of the situation in neighboring Afghanistan. The aim of the exercise is to practice reflection of possible threats and practical cooperation to ensure security and preserve stability in the Central Asian region. About 1,500 servicemen from the armed forces of Russia and Uzbekistan are taking part in the exercise.
