A meeting of the Russian-Syrian intergovernmental commission (IGC) on trade, economic, scientific and technical cooperation is planned to be held in Syria in August, Riyad Haddad, the republic's ambassador in Moscow, told TASS on Thursday on the sidelines of the economic summit "Russia - Islamic World: KazanSummit 2021."

"The IGC is likely to take place in August in Syria. We are now waiting for the exact date of the intergovernmental commission from the Russian side," he said.

In late June, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov, who co-chairs the intergovernmental commission, told reporters that an agreement between Russia and Syria on trade and economic relations was planned to be signed at the next meeting. According to him, first of all, the document will concern cooperation in the spheres of industry, energy and infrastructure restoration in Syria.
