Russian Tu-22M3s bombed camps of camouflaged militants during exercises in Uzbekistan

Four supersonic long-range Tu-22M3 bombers of the Russian Air Force have practiced the tasks of group bombing strikes on simulated camouflaged militant camps at a military training ground in Uzbekistan in the framework of exercises the Russian Defense Ministry told journalists on Friday.


The military department specified that the bombers carried out a scheduled flight over the Termez training range in the Surkhandarya region of Uzbekistan. "In the course of practical operations, the Tu-22M3 crews took off from an operational airfield in the Saratov region, flew over and practiced tasks of group bombing strikes on simulated camouflaged militant camps and ammunition depots at the Termez training range," the ministry noted.


The bombers were covered by a pair of MiG-29 fighters of the anti-aircraft defense and air force of Uzbekistan.


"All flights of the Air and Space Forces of Russia are carried out in strict compliance with international rules of airspace use," the ministry added.


All in all, about 1.5 thousand servicemen of the two countries and up to 200 units of weapons and military equipment and four Tu-22M3 airplanes of the Russian Air Force were involved in the exercise.
