Russian, UAE Foreign Ministers discuss Syria, Yemen and Libya

Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and UAE Foreign Minister Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan discussed the situation in Syria, Yemen and Libya at a meeting in South Africa, the Russian foreign ministry said in a statement issued on Friday.


"During the exchange of views on key aspects of the international and regional agenda, special attention was paid to the situation in Syria, Yemen and Libya," the ministry said following the meeting on the margins of the BRICS foreign ministers' meeting in Cape Town.


In addition, the ministers discussed tasks for further progressive development of mutually beneficial cooperation in various areas, including industry, advanced technology, transport, energy, tourism, peaceful space. "In the course of the conversation, the two sides confirmed their mutual commitment to further progressive development of traditionally friendly Russian-Emirati relations in the spirit of the Declaration on Strategic Partnership agreed upon in Moscow on June 1, 2018," the Russian MFA noted.


"The parties reaffirmed their focus on maintaining close coordination between Moscow and Abu Dhabi at various international platforms, including the United Nations and its Security Council, where the UAE has been a non-permanent member since January 2022," the Russian diplomatic office added.
