Russians are for stopping Russia's participation in the military operation in Syria

Most Russians support the termination of Russia's participation in the military operation in Syria. About this, According to RBC, evidence the results of a survey have conducted by the Levada Centre.

 

 


The statistic  shows 55% of Russians claimed that Russia should stop the military operation in Syria. For comparison, in August 2017 the same indicator was 49%.

 

 


Only 30% of respondents were in favor of continuing the operation.

 

 


At the same time, 37% of respondents fear the transformation of Syria into a “new Afghanistan”. 50% consider such an outcome of the case is not incredible.

 

 


35% of Russians do not approve of Russia's state policy towards Syria. The opposite opinion is held by 53% of respondents.

 

 


In general, as it is alleged that, the interest of Russians in the events in Syria continues to fall. This time only 13% of those polled said they were closely watching the events in the Arab Republic.

 

 


It is believed that, the military operation in Syria, Russia began in 2015. According to the Ministry of Defense, during this time 112 Russian servicemen were killed.

 

 


In December 2017, after the defeat of most of the terrorist group "Islamic State" (banned in the Russian Federation), President of Russia Vladimir Putin ordered the withdrawal of the Russian group.
