Russians are leaders in buying property in Turkey

Russian citizens have become leaders in terms of homeownership in Turkey in 2022. They bought more than 16,000 units of real estate, beating almost twice the people of Iran, the National Institute of Statistics said on Tuesday.

 

According to its data, Russians bought a total of 16,312 housing units during the year. They were leading in December as well, buying 2,403 units of real estate. Citizens of Iran bought 8,223 apartments in Turkey last year. They are followed by residents of Iraq, accounting for 6,241 units of real estate.

 

A total of 67,490 housing units were sold to foreigners in Turkey last year, an increase of 15.2% compared to 2021. The total share of housing purchased by foreigners in 2022 was 4.5%. Most of the real estate was bought in Istanbul (24,953), followed by Antalya (21,860), with Mersin province, where Turkey's first nuclear power plant Akkuyu is being built, in the third place (4,316).
