Russians are leaders in buying real estate in Antalya

Russian citizens have bought 6,877 apartments in Antalya in the first seven months of this year, becoming a leader in buying property in the Turkish Mediterranean resort. Such data was released by the Turkish Institute of Statistics on Wednesday.


During the same period last year, Russians bought 5,379 real estate objects, the statistics agency recalls.


Iranians come second in buying apartments (5,315), followed by residents of Iraq (4,405).


Overall, as noted, the percentage of property sales to foreigners in Antalya in January-July increased by 129% compared to a year earlier. According to this figure, it beat Istanbul, which traditionally leads by sales of housing in Turkey. Thus, 1,421 properties were sold to foreigners in Antalya in July, while 1,154 were sold in Istanbul, the report said. A total of 3,939 housing units were purchased by foreigners in Turkey last month, 30.6 % of which were in Antalya.


According to data from Antalya real estate companies, cited by Habertürk, the Muratpasa and Konyaalti districts are in the greatest demand among Russians. They account for 40-50% of all housing transactions.
