Russian Ambassador to the UN Vasily Nebenzya reminded the authors of the «deal of the century» that the Golan heights are part of Syria.
He noted that in the plan developed by the United States, the Golan heights are assigned to the territory of Israel.
"In this regard, we would like to remind the geographer who compiled this map that we and Security Council resolution 497 do not recognize Israel's sovereignty over the Golan. The Golan heights are illegally occupied Syrian territory", the diplomat said.
Recall that US President Donald Trump announced the details of the «deal of the century» on January 28.
According to the document, Jerusalem is recognized as the unified and indivisible capital of Israel, and Palestine becomes a fully independent, but demilitarized state, practically devoid of control over its borders.
As the future capital of Palestine, the plan proposes the village of Abu Dis in the Eastern suburbs of Jerusalem, located behind a security fence.
