Russia's U.N. Ambassador accused the UN of silencing the real number of victims of terrorists in Syria

31 July 2019

The UN is silent on the real number of victims of terrorists in Syria, said the permanent Russian representative to the UN Vasily Nebenzia at a session of the UN Security Council.

Earlier, the UN humanitarian chief Mark Lowcock said that "more than 90 days of bombing and shelling by the Syrian government and Russia have led to the slaughter in the so-called de-escalation in Idlib" and accused Russia of using "scorched earth".

In response, the Russian Ambassador said about the significant activation of "Hayat Tahrir Al-Sham" (outlawed in Russia) group's terrorists in Idlib and drew attention to the terrorists are building military capacity with the help of foreign weapons.

"Mark Lowcock humbly omitted the number of civilians who died from terrorist attacks," said Nebenzia and urged his opponent "not to disseminate unverified information".

Idlib is the last Syrian province controlled by terrorists and illegal armed groups.
